New Dwarf Pics reveal Longbeards and possible Ironbreakers.

New Dwarf Pics reveal Longbeards and possible Ironbreakers.

As the Dwarves Februrary release draws ever closer, we are treated to some more previews of the new minis. All of these pictures look as though they have been taken from the upcoming White Dwarf Weekly so we can imagine that WWW No.1 will be crammed full of Dwarves.

First up with have another picture of the Hammerers, this time its a full unit of them which gives us a better idea as to how they look ranked up. Next we have some closeups of  Belegar Ironhammer. I'm personally impressed by this guy. His only drawback is the ridiculous banner pole on his back. I am however slightly comforted, after looking at the bottom right image, as it seems as though it will be easy enough to remove.

Here we have some new, the longbeards, the armour is nicely adorned to represent their status among society. And yes, there beards are in fact long.

With the final picture I'm a little unsure, they could possibly be Ironbreakers yet they are very similar to the Longbeards, the only reason I can tell they are not the same unit is the musician. Ironbreakers have a drummer whereas the Longbeards have a horn. Maybe they are both Longbeards, but with Ironbreakers no longer being available on the GW site there is still a good chance that the Hammerers kit will come with 3 unit options.

Descendants of Decay A.K.A Beasts of Nurgle Finalised

Descendants of Decay A.K.A Beasts of Nurgle Finalised

I finished basing my Descendants of Decay this morning and completed the final assembly. Overall, I'm very happy with how they turned out. It was my first experience with Titan Forge's miniatures and I have to say that I'm very impressed with the quality of the miniatures even with their relatively low price. I also made my first use the Army Painters ink range and I found them to be a great help when painting. These miniatures are now for sale on eBay.

Here they are:

I began painting the the descendents/beasts by undercoating them with white primer. I chose white as it would allow me to predominantly use washes, which I find help to achieve a more organic appearance. For ease of painting I kept the bases separate and undercoated these black instead as their colour scheme was going to to be much darker.

I began the painting with a two washes of Athonian Camoshade with a single wash of Agrax Earthshade between the two. The horns/spines were washed with Seraphim Sepia with Agrax Earthshade applied to the lower parts.

The pustules, open sores and mouth were first washed with Carroburg Crimson and then Bloodletter for definition. These areas then had Blood for the Blood God applied in blotches before Nurgles Rot was added to the peaks of the pustules. For the tongues I used Army Painters purple ink, something of a new experience. I was very impressed with the result and thought the inks gave the tongues great definition. The teeth and claws were first painted with Dawnstone and then highlighted with Astromicon  Grey. After a few light washes of Army Painters soft tone ink to the help blend the skin the beasts were done. I also purchased a day light bulb which is inifinitely better to paint with and use to take pictures (compare this next picture with the bulb to the first one without).

All that needs doing now is to finish the bases, so far I'm very happy with the result. The colour scheme ,which I first used on plaguebearers, transferred well to these even though they aren't GW miniatures. This is one of many reasons as to why I will probably use some of Titan Forges other miniatures in the future.

As a little bit of a side project I have decided to paint up some of the excellent looking Descendents of Decay by Titan Forge. I've always liked the nurgle miniatures but I was never struck on GWs Beast of Nurgle, it just didn't fit in with the plaguebearers or plague drones. However, when I came across the Titan Forge miniatures I was instantly impressed and bought some immediately. Here they are assembled, I looking forward to getting them painted tomorrow.
